Packaging and Labeling

 Nenimeni Potato Chips Against nenimemi logo on principal display panel, there is a sign that indicates it is Registered. Product description includes 'Good for you'. Without any clear basis for saying good for you, it does not look appropriate. Especially as the product in question is potato chips. Product descriptio further includes simply salted.  The images shown on the principal display panel are of potato chips and salt in a bowl with a spoon and salt in a sprinkler.  The colour of the package is yellow. There is a green dot on the principal display panel. On the back side of the pack the chips are further described as - 'Delicious, Crunchy Munchy Snacks with Tingling Taste'. The packaging material is plastic. Back side:  Email, postal address and contact numbers are given for customer care. There is a telephone number given for distribution enquiries.  There is an a picture and written at the bottom is: Keep your city clean and green.

Sincerity

Among the various qualities, sincerity is strange. In work life, it can lead to ownership which in turn can lead to emotional attachment to situations.  At what point can such ownership and emotional attachment becomes obsessive needs to be guarded. Generally speaking it is important to let go and carry on. Do not get emotionally attached. Sincerity can backfire. Be careful.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

There are many things to like about the book. It is well written and backed by very solid names. Mostly it makes sense.  The mastermind concept with two people is limiting. It is best to interact socially with many people.

Gender diversity in the workplace

It is surprising that this topic has been in vogue for such a long time. I was watching Yes Minister Season 3 and the episode on Equal Opportunities speaks precisely to this point. This episode was broadcast in year 1982. While the TV series is essentially comic, some of the issues they talked about seem perennially true. Also how the language is gender discriminatory also comes through the episode. 

Dominos Pizza

Shocked that the price on the phone was for one pizza and the actual order taken was for another one. Thankfully through the big amount I guess. Shocked to see such tactics to increase order value.

Strengths and weaknesses

My biggest strength is knowledge of management theory. My keenest interest is in its application.

Sales forecasting

What are the key questions:  1. Duration of sales forecast - short term, long term  2. Is it for the category or brand?  Linearity of sale needs to be considered when forecasting demand. Because the demand for differwnr days of the week will differ. Seasonality needs to be considered because different months will have different demand.  Economic cycles will impact long-range forecasting.  

Second day at the assignment

The client will not be in office today also. Looks like another dull day, in office.

Marketing Organization

There are designers, PR guys, market research, somebody who can write stories. 

POS Machines

Pine Labs is being used at Nik Bakers Sec 5 Panchkula. Peelworks at Gupta Supermarket sec 4 Panchkula.

Starting a consulting project

 The ideal way is to get a brief from the client. Await the brief.  Figure out the right seat allocation. If you are working on Exports division, sit with Exports division.  Work on the entire project duration for 5 months.

First day at new assignment

The client does not seem to be around. That is okay - it can happen sometimes. The client is GM Marketing. They may have meetings. Also here the consulting work is not a pre-agreed project with scope. Seems more like work as Management desires. A colleague asked me to take access for a dashboard. It is better if the management asks me for the same. Else new ideas which are of no help.  Its been the entire first half. There has been no work. There has been a conversation around handover. It is complete now.  It does not feel great. Am I supposed to do something. Not sure. Probably I can leave early. 

Assistance

 Why will somebody else assist you in doing your job? no reason for that to happen

Transfers

 Today I was transferred from one division to another. It was management decision. Look forward.
